First 50 Days

To kickstart your experience as a new Ram, plan on participating in the First 50 Days signature events and consider attending other events on campus. Grab a friend or meet other Rams there. Your First 50 Days on campus will set you up for success your first semester as a Colorado State University student.

CSU Traditions

Passed down year over year, CSU traditions bind generations together to create one Ram family. Once a Ram, always a Ram. Here are a few traditions that often become fond memories for our alumni.

Paint the “A”

The letter “A” adorns the western hillside of Fort Collins.  Colorado State University was formally called Colorado A & M, and students were referred to as “Aggies.”  The “A” was first white-washed in 1924.  It became a tradition for freshmen to paint the letter every year.  The tradition continues today.

Take A Photo with CAM the Ram

CAM the Ram is the official mascot of Colorado State University, C-A-M named after the Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College (the university’s former name). CAM makes regular visits to University events and local schools, and many students try to get a photo with CAM before they graduate.

Attend Convocation

New student convocation is a large gathering of new students that takes place in the Fall semester each year as a part of RamWelcome. New students gather in Moby Arena, hear a welcome from the President, and for the first time gather as a CSU community.

Walk the Oval

The Oval is the historic heart of Colorado State University.  It was designed in 1909 as a way to connect main campus buildings.  Surrounding the Oval are many buildings from the early days of CSU – including Laurel Hall, now home to the Office of International Programs! Come visit us in Laurel and enjoy a scenic stroll around the Oval!

The CSU Fight Song

Fight on you stalwart RAM Team
On to the goal
Tear the (opponent) line asunder
As down the field we thunder.
Knights of the Green and Gold,
Fight with all your might.
Fight on you stalwart RAM team!
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

THE CSU ALma Mater

Hail to thee, our Alma Mater;
Colorado State.
Memories are everlasting
of this place so great.
May thy Green and Gold unite us,
loyal ever be.
Colorado State, our Alma Mater,
Hail, all hail, to thee.
