Course registration for undergraduate students is a multi-step process which takes place prior to arriving to campus for orientation. It is important that students follow the steps below in order to register for a full-time course load (12 credits) before arriving on campus in August.
Step 1: Register for International Student Orientation
College Composition (writing) and Quantitative Reasoning (math or statistics) courses are built into every major at CSU. Completing these online placement steps will help you and your advisor identify the right courses for you.
Note:Transfer credit and/or test scores from ACT, SAT, AP, IB, TOEFL, or CLEP can change your placement recommendations. Be sure to submit official college transcripts and/or test scores as soon as possible to be reviewed for placement purposes.
Placement exam information can also be found in your RamStart Checklist (NetID login required).
1. Log onto RamStart Dashboard – Next steps to complete your Pre-Registration 2. Pre-Registration consists of online modules to prepare you for your registration appointment. You will learn about registration basics and what to expect from your advisor and registration appointment. You must complete these modules before your registration appointment. Pre-registration will open on April 15, 2026.
Step 4: Schedule Registration Appointment
Your registration appointment is a one-on-one meeting with an academic advisor who is knowledgeable about your major. During your 45-60 minutes together, you’ll plan your first semester schedule and register for classes. You’re encouraged to complete your registration appointment prior to your orientation session; appointments begin in mid-May.
You must complete pre-registration before you can take this step.
Before registering for classes, students must first obtain a NetID. To do so, go to the NetID website and select and select “Activate”
Log onto RAMweb
On the next page, select the correct Registration Term, and then click “Submit.”
To locate classes, click on the Class Search at the bottom of the Add/Drop Classes page. Once you have selected your class(es), click the checkbox beside the sections you want to register for, or type the five-digit Course Reference Numbers (CRNs) for the courses you have selected into the CRN boxes at the bottom.
Click “Submit Changes.”
All successfully added courses will appear under Current Schedule with a status of Registered or Registered on Web with the date.
Any courses for which registration was not successful will appear just above the Add Classes Worksheet and will be identified with a red octagon and the heading of Registration Add Errors.
You may wish to explore the classes being offered each semester before trying to register for them; see the Class Schedule or contact your Graduate Program Coordinator for more information.
The Registrar provides further instructions on registering for classes, as well as a timeline of important dates.
