Malpezzi Price Education Abroad Scholarship

Dr. Paola Malpezzi Price was born in Italy, in a medium-sized provincial town in the North-Central region of Emilia-Romagna, famous for its homemade pasta, generous fruit orchards and abundant wineries. At age of 17, she came to the US with a scholarship from American Field Service and lived for nine months with a family in Newport, Oregon, where she attended the local high school. That experience changed her life forever. She married her American high school sweetheart, Rick Price. Four years later, she studied at universities in Italy and the US and received a PhD in French and Italian languages, literatures and cultures. Dr. Rick Price also received his PhD in geography. Dr. Malpezzi Price taught French and Italian privately and at Colorado State University for over 40 years. She also led or assisted leading four Study Abroad Programs in Italy and France with her husband. They started this endowment on the convictions that education is the right of every human being, and that learning the languages, cultures, and literatures of other people enhances one’s appreciation of the diverse expressions of life and enriches our experience of the world. Giving to deserving and interested students the opportunity of studying for a semester in France or Italy makes them and their family happy and rewarded.
