Application Deadlines

Deadlines for Receipt of Completed Applications

March 1: For fall semester (August – December) or academic year (August – May)

October 1: For spring semester (January – May) or calendar year (January – December)

NOTE: Students who adhere to the deadline have a stronger chance of getting into their preferred classes. The exchange coordinator at your home institution should contact the CSU incoming exchange coordinator to understand if late applications may impact class/module registration, obtaining housing, etc.

Application & Acceptance Process Timeline

Study at CSU for FALL Semester (August – December) or Academic Year (August – May)

February: Fall semester and academic year nominations are received by the CSU incoming exchange coordinator by early to mid-February. Nominated applicants will receive a link via email with directions for completing the online application process.

March: CSU exchange program coordinators review applications and supporting documents, issue acceptance letters, and share next steps in the exchange process.

April: Students are emailed an electronically signed DS2019 (for J-1 student visa) that they will need to print and sign in order to apply for their visa. Class/module registration is available, and exchange students begin enrolling/registering for classes.

March-July: Incoming exchange program coordinators correspond with students and partners regarding housing assignments, arrival information, travel plans, and enrollment in classes.

Early-August: Students share their travel plans with the CSU incoming exchange coordinators who then organize airport transfers. Students attend mandatory exchange and international student orientation sessions upon arrival.
