Housing Spotlight

“It’s really interesting to hear about different cultures and experiences in general. I get to interact with people during community hours, too, and that’s when we share most about how we relate to a specific topic according to our international background or past experiences. I think that’s the biggest thing about living in Global Village–being able to break down societal barriers that are in place. We realize that we are all more alike than we are different and that we can relate to each other’s experiences more than we thought.”

“My roommate is from India and so I get to learn about her country and Indian culture while debunking stereotypes, too. I’ve realized that sometimes how I think about Indian culture is nothing like Indian culture actually is. The most rewarding thing is learning about people and their cultures that I probably wouldn’t have really had an interest in if I hadn’t met someone from that place.”

Isa Douce, International Studies major from France
