Celebrate International Collaborations

Formal Signing Ceremony

When formalizing an international partnership, the Office of International Programs is happy to host a formal signing ceremony. A signing ceremony is an opportunity for leaders to come together and celebrate the dawn of their collaboration and discuss the many possibilities to come. Signing ceremonies are not required to finalize an international agreement. They are intended to show goodwill between partners and provide a chance to publicly recognize the partnership.

Involvement of Senior Leadership

The Vice Provost for International Affairs is the designated signing authority for all agreements that are international in nature. Depending on the nature of the agreement and involvement of senior administration from visiting partners, it may be possible for other CSU senior administration to sign the agreement as well. If interested in participation by members of CSU’s senior leadership team, it is recommended that you give 12 weeks notice using the Delegation Request Form.

Logistical Support

To request a Formal Signing Ceremony, please fill out a Delegation Request Form 4 weeks in advance of the visit. The International Partnerships team will respond to your request and assist in planning the ceremony.

Signing ceremonies are typically held in the Office of International Programs in Laurel Hall. Flags will be displayed to represent each partner institution’s home country. The Office of International Programs will have small gifts for the visiting delegation to show their gratitude and continued support of the partnership. Coffee and tea will be available to all attendees.

Public Affairs Implications

During the signing ceremony, it is possible for an International Programs team member to take photographs. The photographer will take photographs of leaders signing the agreement and a group photograph at the end of the event. Depending on the intended use of the photographs, a signed photo release form may be required.
