Recently CICSU hosted performers from Capital Normal University, Beijing. On the night of Wednesday, November 15th these performers took the stage at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Collins and gave a fantastic performance of Chinese music and dance.
This was an eclectic show that had large-scale group dance numbers, solo and duet dance acts, as well as a Chinese sword dance. There were musical performances consisting of both the pipa (lute) and flute. There were also several demonstrations of traditional Chinese arts such as painting, calligraphy, paper-cutting and Peking Opera. The nearly 200 attendees thoroughly enjoyed the light-hearted and interactive show. Children got to go up on stage and try their hands at calligraphy and painting, while others in the audience tried their best to catch some prizes.
The Confucius Institute at Colorado State University would like to thank the performers from Capital Normal University for their amazing displays of skill and grace. We would also like to thank all those who came to attend this free event. We hope to see you all soon at the 2018 Spring Festival Gala!
