Everyone always told me that going abroad would change you but I had no idea how much. Traveling that far from anything that’s safe and comfortable takes a lot of guts. I remember the first day I was Adelaide I was so overwhelmed I wasn’t sure if I’d made the right decision. It hit me that I was suddenly 9,000mi away from all of my family and friends! Because of this change, and because of successfully achieving a happy experience I feel so much more confident. I travelled around the world by myself and not only reached the country in one piece, but travelled to cities all over Australia, met the most amazing people, and experienced a whole new approach to education. One of the biggest personal impacts from this experience is I feel a lot more out of my shell. When you move to a new place, you have to gather confidence to meet new people. That’s always been scary for me but after doing it for four months I’m so much more confident as a friend and just as a person in general. Silly things that used to make me nervous don’t any longer because I know that if I can do it in Australia, I can do it here.
