The Language Partners Program provides opportunities for Chinese students to interact with students who are learning Chinese language and culture at Colorado State University.

Outcomes

  • Reach out to American students, who are interested in learning Chinese language and culture.
  • Make friends with American students and improve language and cultural awareness.
  • Enhance abroad experience by getting involved into American college students’ life and study.

It’s a 10-week program during the fall and spring semester. All the participants are required to meet with their language partner at least once a week to finish assignments. They are encouraged hang out with their language partners to extend the interactions with each other. This program usually starts in the 3rd week of the semester. Sign-up email is usually sent out in the first week of class. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Ying Cheng via email ying.cheng@colostate.edu.

I have learned lots of daily expressions that I wouldn’t learn in class, which help me a lot in social conversations with my friends and co-workers. Everyone in this program is very friendly. I made several good friends in this program. I highly recommend this program to you.

Chen's Story »

I made several friends in the Language Partners Program, including my own language partner and other American students. When I hanged out with them, they would correct my grammar and teach me the authentic expressions. This program helps a lot during my study in the US.

Jia's Story »

When I helped my partner practice Chinese, she helped me practice my English, and I learned a lot of idiomatic English expressions. The happiest thing was that my partner and I became good friends and we went out together!
