On Saturday, September 27, Colorado State University will hosted an on-campus event as part of the worldwide celebration of Confucius Institute Day. Organized by the Confucius Institute at Colorado State University, the celebration took place at the Durrell Center from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Attendees sampled food, participated in games and activities, watched traditional Chinese performances, competed in a calligraphy competition, viewed Chinese cultural displays, learned some of the language, won prizes, and more. There was also a photo presentation highlighting the incredible work that CSU faculty, staff and students have done with China.
The Confucius Institute
Since 2004, Confucius Institutes have been teaching Chinese language and culture around the world. The Confucius Institute at Colorado State University (CICSU) opened in 2013. CICSU has a mission to promote Chinese language and culture teaching and learning, promote scientific research on water and environmental sustainability, and develop educational exchanges between China and Colorado.

Continuing the celebration of Confucius Institute Day, CICSU hosted a panel discussion during CSU’s three-day International Colloquium on Global Environmental Sustainability, entitled “Visions of Future Earth: Linking Society, Economics, and the Environment.” The panel discussed challenges and opportunities for healthy and sustainable watersheds, water supplies, and aquatic ecosystems in the future, and featured expert speakers:
