Applications & Requirements

To join Global Village, you must be a first-year student or transfer student at Colorado State University. You can find more information regarding our requirements and CSU Learning Communities application process by clicking here.

Orientation

Students in the community participate in Global Village Orientation, which is separate from Ram Orientation, and takes place the week before classes. GV Orientation is a fantastic time for students in the community to get to know one another as they prepare for classes and the upcoming year. Students will receive an email from the Global Village Coordinator with more details about orientation during the summer prior to their first semester on campus.

Global Village Seminar Course

All students in the community are required to take the Global Village Seminar (KEY – 192B), which is held each Fall semester. The purpose of this course is for students to continue to develop their identities, build their intercultural communication skills, and establish a sense of belonging within Global Village, CSU, and the greater global community. Students will meet with their academic advisor during Ram Orientation to register for the course. Learn more about the GV Seminar by clicking here.

Roommate Selection

Global Village students live with other students who are also in the community on the same floor in Parmelee Residence Hall. Students will go through the CSU Housing RoomSync process to find a roommate, or they can request a roommate by emailing the Coordinator. Students will receive emails about this process during the summer after they have been accepted to the community.

Activities

Global Village students have numerous opportunities to engage with other students in the community as well as other students across campus. Community Hours are held in their residence hall multiple times a month by the GV peer mentors, and programs are also held by the Community Coordinator at least once a month as well. In the past, students have gone hiking at Horsetooth Reservoir, gone to laser tag, carved pumpkins, attended movie nights, made international foods to share, and more. To see an updated calendar with activities that take place each semester, go to our Programs and Events page.
