Born and raised in Italy, Manuela Girotti always felt that living and doing research in her home country was too limiting. After a master’s in mathematics from the University of Milano, she moved to Canada to pursue an academic career and obtain a Ph.D. from Concordia University. After that, she returned to Europe for a two-year postdoc in Belgium, entering into contact with the northern-European math community.
Manuela recently started her second postdoc at CSU and she’s in the process of becoming an affiliate professor at Concordia University, with the goal of establishing a fruitful international exchange of knowledge and ideas between CSU and Concordia.
Outside the academic schedule, Manuela is very passionate about languages as a tool to communicate with the reality she’s living in and to deeper understand the diversity and multiculturalism that the society is moving towards.
