Program Models Explained:

What’s an SFLP (Staff and Faculty Led Program)?

Staff and Faculty Led Programs education abroad experiences led by CSU staff and faculty. Programs can be as short as a week or as long as a semester. Programs happen over breaks: summer, winter, fall, or spring break and some are a full a semester! You will travel abroad with a small group (10 – 20) of CSU students studying a specific academic subject while taking course(s) from your CSU staff or faculty program leader(s).

Your program activities abroad support and enhance what you are learning. With over 65 Staff and Faculty Led Programs traveling all over the world, these programs are a great way to get connected and build community with CSU students and faculty!

What’s an Exchange program?

Exchange programs are direct relationships between CSU and universities abroad. CSU students go abroad to study at our exchange partner universities and students from those universities come to CSU to study. These long-standing relationships ensure great communication, well-rounded support for students, academic flexibility, and the benefit of knowing there will be multiple CSU students at the same university abroad. Exchange programs also provide the unique opportunity to connect with students from your host university on campus at CSU both before and after your time abroad.

What’s an Affiliate program?

Affiliate programs are education abroad experiences facilitated by one of our partner organizations (USAC, API, ISA, etc.). These organizations allow us to offer a wider range of programs which include unique locations, a wide range of course offerings and a high level of support to students throughout their entire education abroad experience.
