November 14-18: International Education Week

The week of November 14-18, 2016, is International Education Week (IEW), an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. Join Colorado State University in celebrating IEW through on-campus events throughout the week.

Monday, November 14

12:10 p.m.     |     Tai Chi Club     |     Clark C 146

Tai Chi Club meets every Monday and Wednesday. Ms. Yang, the instructor, is a trained Tai Chi instructor working at the CICSU. Tai Chi, also known as Shadow Boxing, is a form of exercise that improves focus, balance, and overall well-being.

Learn about this summer program abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. The program offers 6 upper level Sociology courses that can be used as electives, AUCCs or for a Sociology/Criminal Justice major or minor.

1:30 p.m.     |     Info Session: Study in England at University of Reading     |     Laurel Hall Commons Room

Attend an information session regarding studying at University of Reading (UR) for one or two semesters. Reading is near Heathrow airport and thus has frequent 30-minute trains into central London, yet is more affordable than living in central London. Dr. Nicole King from UR’s Department of English Literature is visiting CSU to meet with UR students attending CSU and to talk with CSU students interested in attending UR.

Join the Confucius Institute at Colorado State University for casual tea and talk. Browse our cultural displays and enjoy a friendly environment to share and learn about Chinese culture. Periodically, we will have special events including music, presentations, talks, and movies. This is an English language event.

Friday, November 18

4 p.m.     |     BYOT! (Bring Your Own Toy)     |     Confucius Institute

Join the Confucius Institute at Colorado State University for BYOT!, a learning Meetup for anyone interested in learning or improving Mandarin Chinese language skills. Many studies show that learning a language is best achieved by immersing one’s self in a language environment. This meetup is Chinese language only.

6 p.m.     |     Friday Afternoon Club     |     International House

Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) has been a CSU tradition for over 40 years! Join us to connect with our international community, learn about special activities or volunteer opportunities, and engage in new friendships from around the world in this relaxed, social setting. All ages and backgrounds are welcome.
